People Of The Wind

Those stricken by the wind flee to the well, the cistern, or the sea to surrender to the water.’ Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi

A collaboration led by the trailblazing Pouya Ehsaei (live electronics/ Ariwo, From the Lips to the Moon, Parasang), featuring the untamable force of Tamar Osborn (Collocutor, Flock, Unknown to Known) on wind instruments, the kaleidoscopic voice of Tara Fatehi (From the Lips to the moon, Mishandled Archive) and melodic polyrhythms of Afla Sackey.

People of the Wind was released (Vinyl and Digital) in October 2025 on Akazib Records.

People of the Wind moves with the traditions of Zar – healing music and dance brought to southern Iran by communities displaced from East Africa. With deep respect and gratitude for those who endured the Indian Ocean Slave Trade, the chants on this album are renditions of traditional Zar chants. The work is also connected to the book Ahl-e Hava (People of the Wind) by Iranian writer and psychiatrist Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi.

Akazib is an independent record label conjuring left-field music from the concrete phantasmagoric – a universe, a form of reality, a coping strategy to live with transience, outsiderness, apocalypse. Akazib was founded in London 2025 to release music and art created by these unprecedented trans-universal encounters, and to provide cultural and economic resources for our artists as they make home in unfamiliar and unusual environments.
